Inspire. A verb with the secondary meaning in French, and originally in English, of breathing in. 'Breathing in' is an essential part of the creative process, and that's what we offer here - the chance to refill your soul.
With just four beautiful rooms, in a sensitively-restored farmhouse in rural France, the weeks at Inspire are amongst the most exclusive and tailor-made retreats available.
Retreats at Inspire are for anyone looking to fulfil their creative desires. While we have a particular focus on writing (of all levels of experience), the atmosphere is conducive to all forms of creativity, and everyone is welcome.
Inspire retreats take place around the magical, tranquil setting of a hamlet, typical of the Lot-et-Garonne, a beautiful region of France. The house itself is cool in the hot summer days, and is surrounded by a small private woodland for you to explore, when you're not cooling off in the salt-water pool.
The setting of this place, and the intention of these retreats, is particularly suitable for those needing a place to heal, and explore ways of finding self-nurturing.
The writer Marcus Sedgwick is the host of these retreats. Whether you want hands-on help with your writing, or know what you want to work on and just need the perfect space to make it happen, Marcus has over fifteen years' experience of teaching and running retreats.
Thank you for creating a space to do the work I needed. Our conversations were invaluable, the cooking delicious and the home and garden magical.
Yaba Badoe Writer and filmmakerThank you! Absolutely smashing time. The house is beautiful, the atmosphere so conducive to work, and relaxing.
Catherine Johnson Author and screenwriterThank you again for a brilliant week. I'm so much further on than I would have been spending a week anywhere else.
Ruth Grearson Writer/illustratorImagine the extra time you’d have to work on your project if your lunch and evening meals were served to you…
When you’re not working on your project, you can relax in and around the beautiful, salt-water swimming pool.
The garden becomes ever wilder as you move away from the house, culminating in a small patch of woodland to explore.
...in the perfect place to let your creativity flourish. We're here to make that happen.
